Chocolate uplifts mind

Interview with MD. Radim Uzel for V!VA Prague and Choco-story museum

I think that you agree that chocolate is a great and absolutely unrivalled delicacy. We can say that one cannot have too much of it. Do you personally like it?

4 Yes, I love chocolate very much. Actually, I´ve never met a person who does not like chocolate, at least from time to time.

And which kind of chocolate do you prefer? Dark or milk one?

A real chocolate is dark, plain chocolate. I like it the most, but I would not say no to the milk one. For that matter, white chocolate is sometimes good, too. But this is not a chocolate – it is only called so.

They say that chocolate is good for nerves and boosts immunity but also that it boosts sex. What is its secret?

The secret is in chemical agent, which uplifts mind and induces good mood. So it is a kind of drug. The same agent is released during sexual activity. Thus, chocolate can be a successful substitution for sex. There is only one danger – too many calories.

So is it all about chemistry?

3 Yes, the name of the chemical agent in chocolate is phenylethylamin (PEA). Its effect is similar to so-called endorphines – the hormones of pleasure. This hormone is also responsible for intensive affectionateness.

How much of chocolate can be enough to feel well and to have a fancy for making love?

The dosing is individual but too much of a good thing.

And what about after lovemaking? Do you think that females feel like having chocolate?

The females feel like having chocolate immediately after intercourse. It is the reason why a really good lover puts a box of chocolates for his partner right on a night table.

What is the reason?

They say that it is some kind of atavism. Subconsciously, a female needs to get calories to take care of an arising life. This reflex remains even if the most of sexual intercourses does not cause pregnancy. Even possible contraception does not cancel this hunger for chocolate.

In the Museum of Chocolate, you did a tour to distant past of chocolate. What did you like the most?

2 The ancient exhibits were very interesting and informative. Most of all, I have been gripped by the demonstration of making of chocolate pralines. And even better was the degustation of them. It is a really amazing experience for any visitor of the Choco-Story Museum.
